Detroit Lions defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh is expected to be suspended at least two games for his actions in the team’s loss to the Green Bay Packers.

After getting into a tussle on the field, Suh slammed an opponent’s head into the ground several times before stomping on his arm with his cleat. After the referees convened, Suh was given a 15-yard unsportsmanlike penalty and ejected from the game.

Suh, who is in his second season, has been no stranger to controversy when it comes to unsportsmanlike conduct on the field. He recently met with commissioner Roger Goodell to discuss all of the penalties and fines, but apparently that didn’t help clarify the situation for him.

Just a couple of years ago, this would have been considered one of the worst matchups of the day.

Now, this was a battle between two up-and-coming teams who will fight for spots in the postseason.

Matthew Stafford battled dehydration on a very warm Tampa day to throw for over 300 yards and three touchdowns.

Wide receiver Calvin Johnson was the main beneficiary, catching two touchdown passes and looking uncoverable at times.

Detroit Lions defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh has quickly gained a reputation around the NFL as a dirty player.

Suh, who is going into just his second year in the league, has been fined a couple of times already for unnecessary roughness.

However, Suh doesn’t seem concerned by the label and said only his Mom can bother him by calling him a dirty player.

Suh’s teammates believe he is often trying to be a peacemaker and ends up getting flagged or fined for trying to break apart scuffles.

Opposing quarterbacks don’t agree, believing Suh looks to take a cheap shot whenever he has a chance.

Detroit Lions first round pick Nick Fairley underwent surgery on his foot and is expected to miss 3-4 weeks.

Fairley will miss a significant portion of training camp and there is no word on his status for the regular season opener.

The Lions say it was not a Lisfranc injury, which has been known to be a very serious foot injury for athletes.

It’s unfortunate for the Lions and Fairley because his growth was already stunted by the NFL lockout.

He is expected to team up with fellow defensive tackle Ndomukong Suh to form a formidable line.

He ended up getting stuck behind rookie Jahvid Best and veteran Maurice Morris on the depth chart.

However, he started to see a little more action toward the end of the season and is now 100 percent.

The Miami Dolphins are one team that is very interested in Smith given their struggles in the running game.

The Lions knocked star quarterback Aaron Rodgers out of the game with a concussion, which put Green Bay in a tough position.

Quarterback Drew Stanton was shaky at best, throwing for 117 yards and a touchdown. He also tossed two interceptions.

Wide receiver Calvin Johnson wasn’t much of a factor, catching just one pass against Charles Woodson for 44 yards.

The Detroit Lions saw injuries take their toll in a 23-20 overtime loss at the hands of the New York Jets.

Detroit seemed in control of the game despite seeing quarterback Matthew Stafford and kicker Jason Hanson knocked out of the game.

However, some critical mistakes down the stretch really cost the Lions and pushed the game into overtime.

Detroit opted to throw the ball late in regulation rather than run the clock, and the incompletion gave the Jets 40 extra seconds.

They then were hit with a 15-yard penalty for a late hit on New York’s game-tying drive, allowing for a short field goal.

The Detroit Lions rallied back from a big deficit but still came up just short in a 28-26 loss to the Green Bay Packers.

Wide receiver Calvin Johnson finally had his breakout game, finishing with nearly 100 yards and two touchdowns.

At times, it seemed like quarterback Shaun Hill just threw the ball as high and as far as he could and let Johnson go up and get it.

Detroit’s defense actually didn’t do that badly against Green Bay’s explosive offense, giving up less than 300 total yards of offense.

The Lions are currently 0-4, but three games have been on the road and they have played much better than their record indicates.

There are also some concerns about rookie running back Jahvid Best now that he has been diagnosed with turf toe.
