Lions fall to Cardinals, 31-24
The Detroit Lions finally put some points on the board but couldn’t stop the Arizona Cardinals in a 31-24 defeat.
The Lions got a big day out of backup running back Maurice Morris, who had 126 yards on just 17 carries and a touchdown filling in for the injured Kevin Smith.
Detroit was shut out in the first half, trailing 17-0 at halftime, and it looked as though they were heading for another embarassing defeat. However, they threw up 17 points in the third quarter to tie the game.
Quarterbacks Drew Stanton and Daunte Culpepper both saw playing time in the loss, filling in for injured rookie Matthew Stafford. Neither managed to pass for more than 100 yards and both threw an interception.
The Lions are really handicapped at the quarterback position right now, as Stanton is extremely inexperienced while Culpepper is washed up and is careless with the football.
